The Dantean Anomaly in Central Europe East of the Rhine

This doctoral sub-project focuses on Central Europe east of the Rhine into today’s Poland and Czech Republic. The study supplements narrative sources with a particular focus on documents, account books and inscriptions.

Reconstructing the extreme events and their impact, these sources can be compared to the scientific proxy data (tree rings, mud cores, historical erosion research), which is particularly densely transmitted for the region under investigation.
The project is part of the Junior Research Group »Dantean Anomaly«, led by the climate historian Dr. Martin Bauch.
