The GWZO is involved in the Saxon project »SaxFDM – Competence Team«. The project aims to test and expand Saxony-wide support services such as consulting, training and technical assistance for research data management (RDM).
SaxFDM – Establishment of cooperative support for research data management in the Free State of Saxony – Initial project
How can research data management be supported in the best possible way? How do the needs differ across institutions and disciplines? What kinds of services should be provided? A three-person project team at the GWZO, the Dresden University of Technology and Leipzig University has been investigating these questions since 2021 in order to be able to submit a service portfolio and present an operational plan for the Saxon state initiative for research data management »SaxFDM« that is adapted to the needs of research. In addition, the project promotes the strategic anchoring of RDM at research institutions in Saxony in close cooperation with the partner institutions. The project thus opens up the opportunity to comprehensively test and further develop the activities and services of the bottom-up initiative, which began on a voluntary basis in 2019. At the end of the project, the aim is to have a viable operating concept, which should, if possible, form the basis for a permanent offering of SaxFDM services and tools. The project is funded by the SMWK until the end of 2025.
