About
Anzhelika (Lika) Zakaryan holds a BA and an MA in Political Science from Artsakh State University. From 2018 to 2021, she was a researcher with the Berghof Foundation (Stepanakert) working on biographical project in Nagorno-Karabakh, collecting and transcribing in-depth life-story interviews. In 2023, she completed a one-month internship at the Centre for Social Independent Research, Saint Petersburg. From 2020 to 2025, she worked as a journalist, covering conflict and displacement and providing on-the-ground reporting during the 2020 war in Artsakh. She is the author of »44 Days: Diary from an Invisible War« and is the co-writer of the documentary film Invisible Republic (2022).
In 2022-2023, she coordinated and conducted research interviews for a Yale University School of Public Health study on the impact of the Nagorno-Karabakh blockade on the health of its population.
Anzhelika Zakaryan has been a scholarship holder at the GWZO since January 2026.

This project examines how violence and humanitarian aid intersect in Nagorno-Karabakh, exploring the impact of war, displacement and blockade on local populations. It analyses how these experiences shape political identity, collective memory and international aid practices.
