• About the person

    Łukasz Musiaka studied Geography at the University of Łódź, where he also completed a postgraduate programme in Geographic Information Science (GIS) and received his PhD in 2012. Since then, he has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political and Historical Geography and Regional Studies at the University of Łódź.
    In 2019–2020, he held a research internship at the Institute of History and International Relations in Olsztyn. His academic focus combines historical and urban geography, settlement morphology, heritage studies and cultural tourism. Alongside teaching and research, he has also been active in museum work and cultural tourism, gaining practical experience in heritage interpretation and promotion.
    Łukasz Musiaka has been the principal investigator of several research projects, including Models of morphological transformations of large cities of the former Recovered Territories after 1945 in the context of challenges of contemporary spatial policy (IDUB Grant, 2022–2024), Morphological changes in the towns of former East Prussia after World War II(NCN MINIATURA, 2019–2022), and a series of Teutonic heritage studies (MNiSW, 2013–2016). He has also participated in several interdisciplinary scientific and applied projects.

    Since 2025, Łukasz Musiaka has been working as a scholarship holder of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) at the GWZO.

  • Teaching

    As an academic teacher at the University of Łódź, Łukasz Musiaka has been conducting lectures and field classes since 2012, having gained earlier teaching experience during his PhD studies. In addition, he has taught at the private university WSTiH in Łódź (tourism) and has delivered guest lectures at universities in Estonia, Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, Turkey, Israel, Slovenia and Portugal.
