About
Coline Gérard studied French Language and Literature at the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) from 2019 to 2022. She completed a Master’s degree in History (research focus) at the Université catholique de Louvain from 2022 to 2024, including a research internship at KU Leuven.
Since October 2025, she has been a PhD candidate in History at Leipzig University and the Université catholique de Louvain under a cotutelle agreement. She is an associated researcher at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO) and a member of the Graduate School Global and Area Studies at Leipzig University. Her doctoral project examines gender-based violence during the Second World War in Belgium and the »Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia«. It is funded by a FRESH scholarship of the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS, Belgium).

Gender-based violence during in Belgium and the »Protectorate of Bohemia-Moravia«
This project examines discourses recorded in diaries and judicial records produced during the Second World War in Belgium and the »Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia«. The aim is to explore how gender-based violence was experienced, perceived and narrated at the time of German occupation.
