About
Xue Li has been devoted to historical studies throughout her undergraduate and master’s education. Her master’s thesis, which examined the historical geography of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, strengthened her commitment to interdisciplinary approaches in foundational research.
Xue Li is currently a doctoral researcher at the GWZO, where she contributes to a project on the climate history of the Greater Altai region from 1950 to 2020.

This study investigates climate change and herder adaptation in the Altai Mountains (1950–2020). By integrating climatic, demographic and land-use data with qualitative field research, it reveals the dynamic interactions between environmental transformations and nomadic pastoral livelihoods.
